VFMC Terms & Conditions

***TURKEYS***

Please note that we harvest turkeys once a year, and they are delivered to us the Friday before Thanksgiving. They arrive to us “crusted”, a really ugly word for describing that they are frozen on the outside, but not completely frozen. They go into our cooler and should be perfectly thawed by Thanksgiving. Your turkey may still need time to continue to thaw depending on what day you receive it.

In the event that you are having your turkey shipped overnight on the Monday before Thanksgiving, please note that it will have been completely frozen first for obvious reasons. You will need to plan on thawing the turkey in cold water (ice chest, large tub, bathtub, etc.).

While we will do everything we can to get you the size and type of bird you order, it is important to note that we don’t always get exactly what we order from Mother Nature. Heat waves in the summer, early cold snaps, avian disease all can lead to dramatic fluctuations at harvest time. In the event that we can’t fill your order as you placed it, we will contact you to offer alternatives. If we can’t come to an agreement, your deposit will be placed on your account as a credit for you to use as you see fit. No refunds of turkey deposits will be made after November 1st.

***Home Delivery***

We offer home delivery three days a week, although that is subject to change based on the number of orders in a given week. It may become necessary for us to combine or split routes from time to time. We will always give you notice at least the day before delivery if we find it necessary to change our scheduled route.

It is not necessary for you to be home for delivery. Our drivers will do their best to put your delivery in the safest possible location. Please note that your order will come frozen, but some thawing may occur during delivery. This is normal and expected. Meat is perfectly safe to refreeze or put in the fridge as long as the meats temperature has not gone over 40 degrees. We pack orders in a lightly insulated bag and expect no problems as long as the meat gets inside to your fridge or freezer by nightfall. If you are worried about when you will be able to get your bag inside, please feel free to leave a cooler outside and your driver will put it inside there for you.

While we understand that Porch Piracy is becoming the new national sport, we are not able to take responsibility for your order once it is delivered. We are happy to put it inside your home or garage if you provide means of entry, and our drivers take pictures of each delivery for proof of location. Please feel free to include notes with your order for how we can make sure you get your order.

***1-2 Day Shipping***

All “Overnight” shipping orders are classified as 1-2 day. Generally speaking, California orders will arrive next day, anything outside California will be 1 or 2 days. We pack all our orders frozen and with enough ice packs for 48 hours. You should expect some thawing may occur during delivery, in fact it may be completely thawed by the time you get it. This is normal and expected. Meat is perfectly safe to refreeze or put in the fridge as long as the meats temperature has not gone over 40 degrees. If the meat arrives more than 48 hours after it ships or is warm to the touch please call 707-332-4605 immediately. We will do everything we can to make it right, but can not take responsibility for packages that sat on the porch for any significant amount of time after delivery.
